This post is not about cooking, but it is. Sorry in advance. This week there are no tips and tricks. No healthy eats. No recipes. In a week where I was trying to be more focused then ever, I’ve lost focus. Sometimes life is like that. My room is adorned with post-it notes with quotes and sayings that have particularly stuck in my mind for times like this.
They are a constant reminder to move forward; everyday before I leave my room I am reminded of the words, they help center and drive me. Never underestimate the power of positive thought. I find myself constantly reminding my friends what you think is what you are, and what you speak is what you become. It is a grand overarching life concept, but one that works especially well in the kitchen. People often become overwhelmed before they even step foot in the kitchen; the shopping, the cooking, the following directions, the cleaning..I’m getting tired just typing about it. Because even though I’m great at giving pep talks to others, sometimes I have to remind myself.
I have one post-it that changes everything.
Yes, in theory the whole point of cooking is to have a reward, a delicious meal at the end, but sometimes the process can be just as fulfilling if you let go of the prize at the end. Much like life. Take a risk. On a day where you’re not starving and have some time, get lost in the grocery store, explore new ingredients, turn on some music. Get inspired.
Enjoy the journey.
